About Me

Hey y'all! I'm Briana Beverly and I am...you guessed it!...a second grade teacher!

I was born and raised in sunshiny, (and also rainy), Orlando, FL. After graduating in 2012 from the University of Central Florida with a Psychology degree, I began searching for an elementary school job, but nothing panned out. So, I continued working as a Pre-K assistant in Orlando, FL. One October morning, I got a call out of the blue for an interview for a teaching job I hadn't even applied for. Well, that's how it all started! I jumped into teaching second grade, having not majored in Education, not having a single classroom item to my name, and starting about 8 weeks into school. Phew! I fell in LOVE with my second graders, and my childhood dream of being a teacher came true!!
In the summer of 2013, my husband and I moved from Orlando to Fort Myers, FL for him to attend the Physician Assistant program at Nova. I taught second grade for two years there, and we soaked up a lot of sun at the beach on our weekends.

Well, a few months before his graduation, we up and moved our tiny family to Nashville, Tennessee...and for no better reason than...we just wanted to! We took a big risk (I think my family was SERIOUSLY biting their tongues), and moved up here without a job or a friend to our names. We quickly found jobs, and I lucked out and was able to teach sweet second graders again. We absolutely LOVE living in Nashville - there is always something to do, and the country concerts and delicious food keep us more than busy on the weekends.

Now, how about a few pictures?!

My handsome and amazing husband of 4 years is a Physician Assistant at an Orthopedic clinic and hospital. We met at UCF through one of my roommates and the rest is history! He's handsome, funny, super smart, fun, and thoughtful. I think I'll keep him! ;)
This is the other handsome guy in my life...our sweet Border Collie pup, Bowden! (Did I forget to tell you that my husband is a die-hard FSU fan?!) He's three years old, and he is just the cutest, sweetest, and funniest pup!! We spoil him like he's our child.
And lastly, a few of my favorite things: spending time with family and friends, football games (Go Lions!), country concerts, traveling, and the beach!
I also love chocolate, trivia nights, teacher talk, my kindle, Parenthood (the show!), any and all movies, shopping, the color pink, and weekend getaways.
From Orlando, to Fort Myers, to Nashville - I have been blessed to teach at several schools in several cities. This year, I have taken the opportunity to take the year off from classroom teaching and focus on creating curriculum and resources. I am so excited about this new adventure, and would love for you to follow along with me. :)

Please reach and out and stay connected -- I love making new teacher friends!

  2. Okay, a few things:

I also graduated with a Psych degree in 2012, but I did get my Master's in Education (you can't major in Edu at UTK). I got hired for a (1st grade) job in October (okay, the end of September, but had to sub until Oct.) for a job I didn't apply for also!!! It was crazy coming in after school had already started! I am obsessed with Parenthood (and chocolate), so sad it's over! :( I am a new wife and new puppy mom!

Loved coming across your blog! :)
